Many Chinese symbols for words written in calligraphic style have auspicious meanings like "good fortune", "strength", "happiness" and "long life" are featured on Chinese scrolls, paintings, jewelry and decorative items for the home.

Because of their artistic value, Chinese calligraphy add an air of refinement to the person or home.
